During his archpastoral visit to Brisbane, at the invitation of the principal, Metropolitan Siluan visited the newly founded Orthodox classical school – St John of Kronstadt Academy in Brisbane.
After a cordial welcome by the principal, faculty, and students, Metropolitan Siluan was led into the chapel where he was formally welcomed by the principal, The Very Reverend Fr Stephen David. After introducing His Eminence to the school’s program, Fr Stephen asked the Metropolitan to address the children with a few words about the importance of prayer and following Christ for Christians. After Vladyka concluded his address, the students then asked him various questions on the topic of faith and life. His Eminence was then presented with an icon of St John of Kronstadt, the patron saint of the school. The students then chanted the hymn ‘Dostojno Jest’ in honour of the Most Holy Mother of God, after which they received a blessing from His Eminence before returning to their classes. The Metropolitan then visited the classrooms and other areas of the school. Metropolitan Siluan thanked Archbishop George for the blessing to visit the school and Fr Stephen for the invitation and most cordial reception. His Eminence expressed his joy that an increasing number of Orthodox schools are opening across the country, especially with an emphasis on liturgical life, mentioning in that context the great blessing of having opened our very first Serbian Orthodox school, Saint Sava College in Sydney. His Eminence then left as a blessing for the staff and students icons of the miracle working icon of the Mother of God ‘Trojerucica of Elaine’.
