THE PATRONAL FEAST DAY OF ST. NICHOLAS SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH IN WOOLONGABBA SOLEMNLY CELEBRATED

On Thursday, December 19th, the parish of St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra and Wonderworker, in Woolongabba, celebrated its patron feast day.

The Divine Hierarchical Liturgy was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Siluan, with the participation of clergy from the local parishes as well as from sister Orthodox churches.

After the Liturgy, a festive procession followed, along with the blessing of the Slava Bread. The host family for this year was that of Subdeacon Milijan Nikolić, and the hosts for the upcoming year will be Živan Zlatković and Miomir Janković.

In his sermon, the Metropolitan emphasised that we should follow the example of St. Nicholas as the true rule of faith, who, despite the difficult historical circumstances for the Church, fought for the true and right faith. The Metropolitan also shared the impression of all present that today was a small Pentecost, as besides the parish church choir, singers from the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia and the Antiochian Orthodox Church also participated in the Liturgy, noting that despite singing in different languages, there is one language of worship— the language of Holy Orthodoxy.

During the festive meal, the parish choir performed a medley of ethno songs, and the Metropolitan once again congratulated everyone on the parish feast day.
