On Thursday, November 28, 2024, His Eminence Metropolitan Siluan of Australia and New Zealand visited Saint Sava College in Varroville.
The visit began with Metropolitan Siluan meeting, blessing the work, and engaging in conversation with the students of the college on topics related to our Orthodox faith, particularly focusing on the Nativity of Christ, Christmas. Discussions included the Incarnation of the Lord, His birth, the time, place, and miraculous announcement of His birth, the presence of the Bethlehem Star, and what it symbolised—some of the smaller, but very significant topics which the students happily engaged with. Despite the unpredictable weather conditions of the current heat, the brief conversation and meeting also included the inevitable children’s questions and succinct, however important answers that would be remembered by the students for a long time.
Following this, shorter meetings were held with officials, local government representatives, as well as with the Principal and St Sava College representatives. The topics of discussion included current issues, plans, and the future of the college.
