On the 28th Sunday after Pentecost, during the preparatory period for Christmas, His Eminence Metropolitan Siluan visited the missionary parish of St. Basil of Ostrog in the Melbourne suburb of Langwarrin, where he led the Divine Hierarchical Liturgy with the concelebration of parish priest Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Milan Milutinovic and Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Cedomir Videkanic.
On this Sunday, our Serbian Orthodox Church also commemorates Fathers day, as part of the three preparatory weeks before the Holy Nativity of our Lord in which special attention is given to the importance of family. In his sermon after the Divine Liturgy, the Metropolitan spoke about the faith of the Old Testament Fathers. Although they did not live to witness the fulfillment of God’s promises, they firmly believed in His word. We are witnesses to the fulfillment and truth of this gracious Pentecostal promise and its participants in the life of the Holy Church.
The Metropolitan congratulated the gathered faithful on the Feast of the Fathers and wished everyone a blessed upcoming celebration of Christ’s Nativity.
After the Divine Liturgy, the faithful gathered for a fellowship meal prepared by the dedicated sisters of the Serbian Sisters’ Circle of the parish. Father Milan, on behalf of the clergy and the faithful, expressed gratitude to the Metropolitan for his pastoral visit and care, and wished him many years.
