"Truth does not fear dialogue," says Ecumenical Patriarch

triumphicon_lIndifference in regard to Christian unity is not an option for the disciples of Jesus, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has stated in an encyclical issued on the occasion of the Sunday of Orthodoxy.

"It is not possible for the Lord to agonize over the unity of His disciples and for us to remain indifferent about the unity of all Christians," Bartholomew wrote in the encyclical. The Sunday of Orthodoxy is commemorated this year on 21 February.

The 29th Annual Opening of the Law Term for 2010

Bishop of Nis Irinej elected for a new Patriarch of Serbia

At the Election Assembly of bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church the new Patriarch of Serbia was elected.

Serbian Orthodox Bishop of Australia and New Zealand Irienej (Dobrijevic)In the early morning hours His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral , locum tenens of the Patriarchate throne, served the Holy Hierarchal liturgy at the Cathedral church. His Eminence served with the concelebration of Bishops: Lukijan of Osijek Polje and Baranja, Jovan of Shumadia, Irinej of Australia and New Zealand,  Vicar Bishop of Teodosije of Lipljan and Antonije of Moravica

After the Holy Liturgy Bishops gathered at the Patriarchate court. The session was preceded by consultations before the election procedure. At the Election assembly Bishop Lavrentije of Shabac presided, the oldest bishop in the ordination of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The Holy Assembly of Bishops has 44 members, and 34 bishops met the requirements to be nominated as the new Patriarch of Serbia. By the secret ballot bishops proposed candidates , out of which three bishops were on the shortlist, who received more than half of the votes of the members of the Election assembly. In the first round the candidate for Patriarch became the Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, in the second round the Bishop Irinej of Nis, and a third candidate was elected in the fourth round, and that was Bishop Irinej of Bachka.

These three candidates have received more that a half votes during the four rounds of voting. The envelope with the name of the Patriarch from the Holy Gospel was chosen by Very Reverend Archimandrite Gavrilo, superior of the monastery of Lepavina (Metropolitanate of Zagreb-Ljubljana).

Immediately after the election a thanksgiving was served and wished unto many years to Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade and Karlovac and Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, who addressed his brother Bishops pointed out that his election was the will of God and the will of the Holy Assembly of Bishops and that he will work on the Field of God in an association with all the Bishops of the Serbian Church.

Bells at the Cathedral Church rang at about 14 hours and 15 minutes indicating that the 45th Patriarch of Serbia was elected.

Bishop Irinej of Bachka said, at the press conference, that the new Patriarch was elected in accordance with the procedures which was in force in the Serbian Orthodox Church, in canonical and lawful manner. He also said that the election passed harmoniously in an atmosphere of a brotherly love and a mutual understanding of all the bishops at the Assembly.

The Holy Hierarchal Liturgy, during which there will be the enthronement of His Holiness Patriarch Irinej Serbia will begin tomorrow at the Cathedral Church at 9 o'clock, and later, when all the  conditions are met, there will be made formal introducing to the throne of the Serbian patriarchs at the Patriarchate of Pec, the historic seat of the chief of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

HRH PRINCE MIHAILO SPECIAL GUEST AT CHILDREN'S SUMMER CAMP 2010

DSC02994As the Christmas and New Year Holidays draw near, it is time for all Serbian children living in Australia and New Zealand to think about attending Summer Camp at our St. Sava Monastery in Hall, New South Wales. Here, at our beautiful Summer Camp, the campers will have a chance to spend a week worshipping, praying, studying our Orthodox Christian Faith, learning to sing both church and folk songs, to dance Serbian dances, arts and crafts, sports, visitations to local sites and week filled with rich and rewarding experiences!

HRH PRINCE MIHAILO CELEBRATES FAMILY PATRON SAINT IN MONA VALE

DSC02989On Sunday, 13 December 2009 at the Pro-Cathedral of St Sava His Grace Bishop Irinej celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in commemoration of the Feast of St Andrew the First Called.

For the very first time HRH Prince Mihailo Karadjordjevic celebrated his family Slava at our Parish which his late father +HRH Prince Tomislav visited back in 1991. During the liturgy, His Grace Irinej spoke of the life of St Andrew who was the first-called of the Apostles and was crucified for Christ on a cross in the shape of an "X". St Andrew the First-called is also the Patron Saint of Constantinople Patriarchate in addition to the Royal House of Karadjordjevic.

At the conclusion of the liturgy and cutting of the Slavski kolac a luncheon was prepared in the school hall. As the School and Folklore year has finished, HRH Prince Mihailo handed out the Yearly report cards and certificates to our Serbian School and Folklore students.

Фото албум "Из смрти у живот"

Из смрти у животИнформативно-издавачка установа Српске Православне Цркве, у сарадњи са Министарством вера Републике Србије, у знак сећања на Патријарха српског Павла и дане његовог величанственог испраћаја, штампала је фото-албум Из смрти у живот. Као мало уздарје Цркве свом верном народу и свима који су у личности Патријарха Павла препознали лучоношу Васкрсења Христовог или су, као људи од вере, односно људи добре воље, спремни да прихвате његову кратку, али мудру поруку Будимо људи! - Информативно-издавачка установа Српске Православне Цркве је на дан четрдесетодневног помена присутнима у храму Светог Саве поклонила по један примерак овог фото-албума.

Због великог интересовања верника, који тог дана нису присуствовали помену блаженопочившем Патријарху Павлу, фото албум Из смрти у живот од данас је доступан на званичној интернет-презентацији Српске Православне Цркве на адреси:
