The Holy Archangel Michael parish celebrated the Sunday of Orthodoxy with the procession of the Holy Icons. It was wonderful to see so many faithful attending the Holy Liturgy, celebrated by the Reverend Presbyter Veselin Svorcan and assisted by the Reverend Deacon Miladin Tripic, affirming the Orthodox Faith on the First Sunday of Great Lent.

The number of faithful in this Anglophonic parish of the Serbian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand on Sundays have been consistently around 50 people for the Divine Liturgy and for the Sunday of Orthodoxy there were 70 people attending the service.

In addition to worship, there is the Bible study group, which starts with the Akathistos to the Mother of God and proceeds with the Bible Study and spiritual discussions every Thursday evening (as advertised on the Orthodoxy website). This group has grown to 15 people who attend the sessions regularly.

Three persons have already accepted Orthodoxy and there are three more persons to be accepted by Holy Chrismation during this Great Lent. There are also another four persons who are seriously contemplating converting to Eastern Orthodoxy and joining St Michael's Parish.

Pastoral counselling sessions, which used to be held on Tuesdays, also have expanded and are now held it on Saturdays before Vespers.

Their Facebook page has is regularly visited by many Orthodox and others desiring to know about Orthodoxy in the greater Sydney area: www.facebook.com/StMichaelsHomebush.

As read in the appointed Gospel for the Sunday of Orthodoxy, when Nathaniel doubted Philip, who said, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote – Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of Joseph" – "COME AND SEE!"
