St Sava's parish at Elanora Heights has successfully hosted its fifth Saturday evening Vespers service with Bible Study session in the English language for the faithful of our community.

The topics chosen for contemplation for these evenings are carefully selected by Fr Sasha Radoicic, in his desire to spiritually support the second, third and even fourth generation of Orthodox Christian Serbs living in Australia.

Building on the main theme of Pascha - Easter, Fr Sasha's topic on the Cross was a refreshing reminder of the totality of God's love for all humankind. In particular the idea that God chose the Cross as His Son's eternal symbol; an embracing love that beckons to all generations of humankind, showing that the arms of Jesus Christ are spread wide, ready to embrace all who turn to Him.

The Cross as a symbol of Christian practice: the vertical beam that represents out relationship with God above; the horizontal beam representing our relationship with other people, and in the centre is our Lord Jesus Christ, uniting the vertical and the horizontal.

Our relationship with God must pass through Jesus and our relationship with people must also pass through our Lord.
Fr Sasha encourages questions at these Vesper and Bible sessions. Several insightful and challenging questions were asked and generated a rich discussion amongst the group.

These gatherings are held on the first Saturday of each month.

Vespers at 6:00pm followed by Bible Study sessions.

All are welcome.
